Corporate training

Critical thinking requires skills in three different capabilities.

Our workshop are structured to cover  all three capabilities critical thinking requires — logical reasoning, structured problem-solving, and the barriers that quietly derail decisions.

Half-day to two days · Interactive & application-based · On-site or virtual · All three capabilities, or a selected combination

How it works

How the training works

The training is structured around the three capabilities of critical thinking. Each programme covers all three, or a selected combination, depending on your objectives and audience — over a half day to two days, with follow-up sessions on request.

The approach is interactive and discovery-based : concepts are surfaced through examples, scenarios, and hands-on application rather than lecture.

The curriculum

What participants learn

Three modules, each closing a different failure mode in everyday business thinking.

Module 1

Logical reasoning

The four types of reasoning — each with its own structure and its own ways of going wrong — plus how to weigh the strength of an argument and the credibility of the claims, sources, and studies offered as evidence. It also covers building logically persuasive communication using Minto's Pyramid Principle.

Deductive Inductive Causal Moral

Take away: the tools to evaluate reasoning in proposals, vendor pitches, and reports — and to construct well-reasoned arguments of your own.

Module 2

Structured problem-solving & decision-making

A complete, generic framework that forces every dimension of an issue into view — assumptions, implications, stakeholder perspectives, and implementation risks. Participants apply it to a case study, working from problem definition through to a recommended decision.

The framework at a glance
Issue Criteria Hypotheses Evidence Analysis Solutions
Each option evaluated against: Assumptions · Implications · Stakeholders · Implementation & risks.

Take away: a structured, repeatable process for problems and decisions that leaves no dimension unexamined.

Module 3

Barriers to critical thinking

The four categories of barrier that derail thinking no matter how sound the reasoning — and how to recognise them in your own thinking and in others' arguments, then sidestep them or build mitigation into how decisions are made.

Cognitive biases
Systematic, repeated errors of judgement in certain situations.
Logical fallacies
Errors in reasoning that nonetheless seem to follow.
Rhetorical devices
Language that stirs emotion to steer beliefs and actions.
Linguistic barriers
Imprecision in language that clouds clarity of thought.

Take away: the ability to spot manipulation and self-deception before they shape a decision.

The Critical Thinking Field Guide

A complete, concise reference covering all three capabilities, written specifically for the working professional. Either built into the workshop pricing or procured separately through Amazon — so the method stays on the desk long after the session ends.

A critical thinking assessment

Access to one assessment patterned on the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal — a benchmark of where participants stand.

Why it pays off

A shared language for how your teams think

When someone brings a recommendation, the thinking behind it becomes visible — assumptions stated, implications considered, stakeholders mapped, risks named, the decision backed by evidence and sound inference.

Beyond individual skill-building, the frameworks become a common standard across teams for how problems are examined and decisions are justified. That is where the return compounds — in the quality and defensibility of the decisions your organisation makes every day.
